This architecturally designed home was built in 2000 for the Queensland climate by internationally recognised, award-winning Australian Gabriel Poole (1934–2020). This Capricorn design went on to become a leading revolution in Australian residential architecture. Â
Born and educated in South-East Queensland, Gabriel Poole was an acclaimed architect known for his innovative, light-weight designs that are site and climate responsive. His ‘Tent House’ in Eumundi on the Sunshine Coast won the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) Queensland Innovation Award, the Robin Dods Award and the RAIA National Robin Boyd Award in 1991. In 1998 Poole was awarded the nation’s highest architectural award, RAIA Gold Medal, for his lifetime contribution to Australian architecture.  Â
‘Pooley’ as he was affectionately known, was once asked about his designs: Â
“If we build better houses, we will get better people. The environment people live in has a fair bit to do with the way they act – their behaviour patterns will be much more amenable if they are living somewhere that opens them up and makes them feel good.” Â
Some Capricorn features, such as the lockable central breezeway, were inspired by his years as a jackeroo. You’ll find this sliding door very handy for the early risers that want to potter around in the kitchen without waking those still sleeping. Another design feature are the breezeway panels on each room to allow the sea breezes and sounds of the ocean to flow through the house.  Â
The living, kitchen, office and dining room are all open plan and flow out onto the front deck. The kitchen is well equipped with all the modern essentials and pantry supplies. The dining room has seating for eight with a further three seats available at the kitchen bar and there is a comfortable sofa and chairs surrounding the large flat screen smart TV with all the latest apps including Netflix, Stan, etc. The front deck is private, surrounded by blossoming trees and is equipped with a BBQ, 8 seat extendable table and chairs. The design of the deck allows for plenty of more seating options around it.Â
The Breezeway offers a second large lounge room which has comfortable seating including pull out double sofa, library, plenty of family games and puzzles and another flat screen smart TV. Access via a glass sliding door is another large outdoor deck area that overlooks the garden and swimming pool with plenty of seating to sit back and relax while watching the kids in the pool or playing in the yard.Â
The main bedroom overlooks the pool and has a queen size bed with ensuite. Bedroom two has a double bed and bedroom three has two single beds and a single trundle bed with extendable legs. The Breezeway living room has a double pull out sofa bed. The main bathroom has a bathtub, shower, vanity and toilet. There is a separate internal laundry with a washing machine.
The yard is fully fenced and surrounded by beautiful established trees and lawn space. There’s also an outdoor shower to rinse off the salt and sand. It is the perfect place to bring the kids and pooches. Everything you need is within walking distance from the property for your next beachside holiday, as well as having Brisbane City and the Sunshine Coast under an hour’s drive away.Â
Protected by Moreton Island, Woorim is a very safe beach with gentle waves ideal for swimming, boogie boarding, fishing and building sandcastles. It is a 200m flat walk from your home where you can explore kilometres of white sand, crystal clear waters and on most days, a visit from the local dolphin pods along with whales and turtles when in season. The centre of town is a 15-20 minute walk (1.3km) where you will find a selection of cafes, pubs, restaurants, takeaways, shops and the local surf club. There are also a variety of walking and biking tracks, parks, exercise stations and picnic spots all close by.
We are pet (dog) friendly and they are welcome to freely roam inside. We just ask they are not allowed on beds or furniture please. The dog friendly (on leash) beach is a short 300m walk at the end of your street The off leash dog beach is a short 3 min drive or 30 minute walk.

All bed linen and bath towels are provided according to the numbers of guests booked. Please BYO beach towels.
Guests are to be in family groups only and must not exceed 9 people . Strictly no parties!Â
Occupants must be over the age of 21 years old or accompanied by a person of parental age at all times.Â
We love our neighbours and the majority of them live here full time. Please keep the noise down between 10pm – 8am.
Your pooch is on holiday too so please don’t leave them for long periods of time as their barking might stress our neighbours. No cats sorry.
